Lesson Objectives:
After completing this lesson students will be able to:
• Define the aboriginal term Dreamtime
• Recognize the subjects, ideas, themes and techniques used by the Aboriginal people.
Guiding Questions:
Who are the Australian Aborigines and how does dreamtime relate to their artwork?
Opening Activity:
Didactic Teaching: Day 1 (1class period)
Students will break into groups of two or three and answer the following question.
Question- Where is Australia? What do you know about this country?
Make a list on the board from the information given from the small groups.

Class discussion will follow covering the terms dreamtime, power. Seasons, clans, magic, ceremonial and the concept of keeping the earth healthy
Class discussion comparing Aboriginal view of land ownership compared to our western view of land ownership.
